What to Expect on Your First Visit With a Massage Therapist at Our Well House

Trying something new, especially when it comes to your health, might be a little nerve-wracking. But all it takes is a little heads up so you can manage expectations and make sure you know what you’re getting into.

We want to ensure you feel knowledgeable, prepared, and comfortable before your first massage therapy visit with us, so here’s a rundown of what to know and what you can expect.

Meet our Massage Therapist: Chloe Olinski

Chloe Olinski of Rapha Therapy Massage is our in-house Licensed Massage Therapist.

Chloe's passion for the healing power of massage became evident to her during her 12 years of playing soccer. After years of working as a nanny, she realized that serving and caring for others through bodywork was her calling and a natural extension of her passions and strengths.

Where does the name “Rapha Therapy Massage” come from?

The word “Rapha” translates to “comfort”, “restore”, or “heal” in the Hebrew language.

It is first used in the Bible when the Israelites cry for the Lord's help in Exodus 15. Throughout the Bible, the word "Rapha" is used to reveal the Lord's character as our healer and protector.

As with the rest of the Our Well House practitioners, Chloe firmly believes that the Lord is our one true healer and restorer. Despite her training to physically restore the body to its natural function and purpose, she ultimately credits all renewal to the Lord.

What is Chloe’s approach?

Chloe believes in the power of full-body care to return bodies to their natural state of God-given ease.

She is certified and trained in a variety of massage and bodywork techniques to address various needs, including Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, Swedish Massage, Myofascial Release, and Muscle Energy Therapy.

  • Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJD) covers a wide variety of issues related to the jaw joint that can cause pain and tenderness in the jaw, neck, and head.

  • Swedish Massage helps to increase blood circulation while bringing ease to tense, painful, and aching muscles.

  • Myofascial Release targets muscular trigger points to ease pain, improve mobility, and “untie knots.”

  • Muscle Energy Therapy (MET) is a gentle manual therapy that improves both musculoskeletal and joint function

What happens during the first visit?

Your first massage therapy session begins with a consultation between you and Chloe, where you'll review your health and medical history. You’ll go over your goals and expectations for the session and the ones to follow.

After your consultation, you’ll receive a full session massage focussed on your areas of concern. The total time for the initial consultation and massage session is 75 minutes; this initial consultation is required for all new patients.

Once you’ve had your initial consultation and massage session, follow-up sessions are available for either 30, 60, or 90 minutes.

In 30-minute sessions, Chloe will have enough time to focus on a single, specific area of concern.

In 60-minute and 90-minute sessions, Chloe will assess your current physical health and evaluate how your body responded to your previous visit, and continue to address your areas of concern and build on the bodywork you have already received.

Are there any equipment, machinery, or oils involved?

Chloe works mostly with her hands, occasionally using her forearm or elbows. She uses Plant Therapy organic fractionated coconut oil, which is in line with Our Well House’s policy on fragrance (since many of our practice members suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, we ask you to not wear any perfumes, colognes, or scented lotions).

Regarding deep tissue massage, Chloe will look at the whole body in each session to determine what it needs which may include deep tissue or heavy pressure. However, your massage is not limited to these techniques.

Who is massage therapy for, and how do the services differ?

Chloe practices massage therapy on men and women and does not currently practice on children. Patients ages 12-15 need a parent present at the appointment, and ages 16-18 need consent forms signed.

She has also been trained in prenatal massage and comfortably works the feet, legs, belly, and jaw as needed. She has the resources for you to be semi-reclining, side-lying, or face down. Her goal is to ensure mom and baby are as comfortable as possible for the entirety of the session!

The best service option for you will be discussed and assessed on an individual basis during your first visit.

How should I dress?

While we encourage clients to dress to their comfort, we request that both men and women leave their bottom underwear on during their session.

Whether or not you choose to wear comfortable and free-moving t-shirts is entirely a personal decision and will not affect the quality of your massage.

We ask that all Our Well House visitors remove their shoes at the door; you can be barefoot or wear socks!

Is it not required to wear a mask during your visit to Our Well House.

Are there membership options?

Yes, a membership option will become available to you after your first visit that allows for 10% off the regular cost of subsequent visits as well as ongoing and consistent prioritization of your health!

Please note that Rapha Massage Therapy packages are similar to but separate from the Chiropractic membership.

What are Chloe’s hours?

Chloe’s hours at Our Well House are Monday & Thursday from 9 am to 6 pm CST, and Tuesday & Wednesday from 9 am to 4 pm CST.

What kind of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards (including HSA and Flex Spending cards). We do not provide diagnostic codes or superbills for insurance reimbursement. However, we are happy to provide an itemized receipt for your records.

Chloe also offers gift certificates for her services, available for purchase either directly at Our Well House or by texting the front desk at (469) 663-4114. If purchased by text, stop by Our Well House to pick up a physical gift card.

Please note that when purchasing a gift card, we need to make an account for the person making the purchase and for the person receiving it. We create a digital gift card in our Jane app to apply to the recipient’s account, so they don’t have to worry about payment upon booking or checking in for their appointment.

What if I need to cancel?

We have a 48-hour cancellation policy for all massage therapy appointments.

If you need to cancel your first visit prior to the 48-hour cancellation period, you may cancel through the Jane app (our online scheduling portal) and will not be charged. If you are within the 48-hour cancellation policy, we ask that you please text us at 469-663-4114 to cancel your appointment, and you will be charged your deposit in full. Please also note there is a non-refundable $75 deposit due upon booking.

If you still have questions that we haven’t answered in this guide before your visit, please don’t hesitate to contact us via text at 469-663-4114. We look forward to serving you!
